The Characteristic of PVC, UPVC, CPVC
Polyvinyl chloride (English: Poly Vinyl Chloride, abbreviated as PVC) is a polymer material that uses a chlorine atom to replace one hydrogen atom in polyethylene. PVC is a white powder with an amorphous structure and a small degree of branching. Industrially produced PVC generally has a molecular weight in the range of 5 to 120,000, and has a large poly dispersity, and the molecular weight increases as the polymerization temperature decreases. There is no fixed melting point, 80~85°C begins to soften, 130°C becomes viscoelastic state, and 160~180°C begins to change into viscous flow state. Its tensile strength is about 60MPa, impact strength is 5~10kJ/m2; it has excellent dielectric properties. Poor stability to light and heat, above 100 ° C or after prolonged exposure to sunlight, it will decompose to produce hydrogen chloride, and automatically catalyze decomposition to cause discoloration. In practical applications, stabilizers must be added to improve the stability to heat and light. PVC is very hard and can only be dissolved in a few solvents such as cyclohexanone, dichloroethane and tetrahydrofuran. It is stable to organic and inorganic acids, alkalis and salts, and its chemical stability decreases with increasing use temperature.
