PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Custom deep-pocket carrier tape is intended for electronic components whose body height or geometry requires a specially developed formed cavity. Relays, connectors and other taller devices may need a different pocket design from shallow SMD packaging. The purpose is to locate each approved component in an individual pocket with a defined orientation, while allowing the packaging arrangement to be evaluated for handling, storage and compatible feeding equipment.
 
COMPONENT-LED CAVITY DESIGN
Pocket development should begin with the complete component drawing or a representative sample. Body dimensions, terminal projection, fragile features, center of gravity and pickup requirements can all influence the cavity. The component must seat at the intended support points with suitable clearance;
 
WIDTH AND PITCH SELECTION
widths of 8 ,16, 24, 32, 44, 56, 72 and 88 mm. These are related-series reference options, not proof that every deep cavity can be produced at every width. Pocket pitch, usable sealing space and sprocket-hole layout should be selected on the approved tape drawing.
 
COVER TAPE AND WINDING
A matching cover tape can be specified after confirming the pocket opening, component top clearance and sealing lands. The selected cover should retain the components without unwanted contact or interference during the agreed handling process. Qualification should use the actual material combination and sealing equipment. For a deeper pocket, reel hub size, winding arrangement and the interaction between adjacent tape layers also deserve review. A reel suitable for a shallow tape should not automatically be assumed suitable here.
